@sikhs2inspire: Yes, Guru Nanak Dev Ji is widely described as having visited Mecca during his Fourth Udasi (religious journey), accompanied by his companion Bhai Mardana. While there, he reportedly engaged in discussions with local scholars, emphasizing a personal connection with the Divine over ritualistic practices. A famous story recounts him lying with his feet towards the Kaaba, and when a Mullah pointed this out as disrespectful, Guru Nanak reportedly asked where God was not, and the Mullah found Mecca moving with his feet, illustrating that God is omnipresent, not confined to one direction. Context of the Visit The Fourth Udasi: Guru Nanak's journey to Mecca was part of his fourth and final global spiritual journey, the Fourth Udasi, which also included travel to other parts of the world to spread his teachings. Disguise and Entry: He reportedly wore the Ihram, the traditional white robes of a pilgrim (Hajji) to blend in and was accompanied by his Muslim companion, Bhai Mardana. Discussions on God: He held deep philosophical discussions with Islamic scholars in Mecca, challenging their focus on rituals and advocating for a heartfelt, direct connection with God. The "Moving Mecca" Incident The Story: A well-known story describes Guru Nanak lying down with his feet pointing towards the Kaaba. The Confrontation: A local inhabitant, Mullah Jan, objected, stating it was disrespectful. Guru Nanak's Response: Guru Nanak is said to have asked the Mullah to move his feet in the direction where God was not. The Outcome: When the Mullah attempted to move his feet, he saw Mecca "move" in the direction of his feet. This story serves as a metaphor to illustrate Guru Nanak's philosophy that God is everywhere and not confined to a specific place, like the Kaaba. Historical and Philosophical Significance Challenging Rituals: Guru Nanak's visit highlights his philosophical stance against ritualistic worship and his emphasis on the omnipresence of God. Documentation: Evidence for his visit is found in the "Vars" (ballads) of Bhai Gurdas, a contemporary scribe of the Adi Granth (the original Sikh scripture), according to SikhiWikihttps://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/History_of_Guru_Nanak%27s_travel_to_Mecca. #fyp #trend #follow #guru #sikhs
