We literally never hear about Esme ever doing anything outside the home - except for her being invited to (though her attendance was neither confirmed nor denied) a gardenparty in Midnight Sun. The town must know something wild is up with that family but just choose to ignore it because they’re desperate for a doctor.

And like it takes 8yrs of college (4yrs for a bachelor and 4yrs for medical school) for someone to even start working as a doctor. And even then they have to go through 3-7yrs of residency training in a hospital just to get to the level that Carlisle was supposed to be at in his career when he came to Forks! Even if he pretended he was some child prodigy there’s no possible way that he could have been at a level in his career as a doctor to be in charge of a whole department at 23!! He would have had to be 8 when he started college in order for him to be where he was at as a doctor at 23!!!

Okay hear me out. He might physically look 23, but 23 back in the 1800s looked older and also living though so much and gathering a lot of wisdom also ages you. The way you speak, walk and mannerisms ages you. So I think you can actually be physically 23, but still come off as much older.
