For what the film set out to do, I think Folie A Deux achieved that wonderfully. I know I’m in the minority, but I think the film is fantastic as is.

That ending could also reinforce why Bruce, later Batman, doesn’t use guns: “I know what it’s like to shoot someone, all that rage and darkness held the gun with me. But I wasn’t going to be like them, because I knew there would be no turning back for me.”
