The problem is losing the co tribute on room though… it doesn’t roll over forever like a TFSA does it? I thought you could only roll over for the next year but after that you lose it. I can’t afford 8k a year

You mentioned $40k max contribution. But what about the increase through interest throughout the years ($8k/year during 5 years = $40k + interest) Can that be used for the house or would that remain needs to be transferred to RRSP?

I wish we had this when I arrive in Canada in 2019. I was only able to contribute in 2024 and 2025, and bought a house this year.

Now, if after 15 years I haven’t bought a house and haven’t made any contribution to my RRSP, what will happen to my FHSA account?

Also, only one year of unused contribution room can transfer to the next year. So if you didn't contribute in the first 3 years of opening it, you don't get the full 3 years of contribution room, only one. That's what I understood reading the rules.
