Saw was VITAL to early rebellion. Luthen was busy working on infrastructure, Mon and Organa were working on public sentiment. Saw was holding the line, keeping the empire from relaxing, and acting as the big distraction while a wider movement was brewing.

Another thing to note that Eriadu is a MAJOR imperial planet in the south. Like there’s not a whole lot for the imperials in the south but Eriadu is a thing and a half. Being home to the outlands security force till they got absorbed into the republics judicial forces, where Tarkin would build a career and I mean he was Palpatines right hand. There’s a reason this man can tell Vader what to do. And his doctrine would’ve worked. The tarkin doctrine of bigger fear mongering would’ve worked if the force didn’t intervene. Luke made a shot that should’ve been LITERALLY impossible. Like the death star most definitely had gravity so to shoot a proton torpedo down a moon-sized station for what must’ve been miles and hitting your shot is something no one would’ve been able to do if they weren’t heavily tuned with the force. Thrawn’s doctrine is just as good as Tarkin’s. And I feel like some people just forget that. Tarkin’s doctrine kept the galaxy in line for several years, and in legends it took DECADES to undo the empire, a creation of Tarkin and Palpatine. And the empire didn’t even really die out like in canon. It just joined the new republic against the Vong. Which is crazy to think about. Considering that post 0 aby it was non-stop war. And post 4 aby it was chaos. With the Dino boys down south, the intergalactic inavders up north, the empire spliting apart, the new republic in the south fighting a dozen imperial warlords that were insanely competent. Then going from Thrawn to resurrected Palpatine with dozens of super weapons. It speaks to just how well the Tarkin Doctrine held up. With a fleet you can destroy the surface of a planet. With a Death Star you can obliterate a planet, reduce plains of flora and vegetation to nothing. Not even ash. That thought alone is terrifying. And they could’ve made dozens of death stars over the span of a hundreds years(assuming they found more kyber crystals).

Wait a second, if saw smuggled galen out like 20 years before the events of rogue one, why did he not know anything about the Death Star? Did he not tell Saw? And if so, why did saw help him? Or did Galen not know what he was building before he went back? But krennik said they were so close back then. He had to know.

The republic really did create a lot of of the problems that the empire had to deal with. They funded rebel groups, which then turned into well supplied rebel groups that rebelled against the empire. It really is kind of ironic.

Btw you can see attempts that are made by the empire to infiltrate the partisans and he was so cunning they always sniffed out the mole they were skilled at hit and run espionage intelligence and counter intelligence they were right below if not elite special forces
