what interest rate is expected current account will give less than 1% ? should deposit be in seperate account? what about bank charges and SARS tax on the interest?

I have my tenant's deposit in a savings account with compound interest. The problem is that SARS picked up that interest and I am paying tax on it.

my landlord is holding back my 2months deposit claiming a week after I vacated the premises that i temped with the meter yet i left his property in pristine condition. He now claims I'm in breach of my contract. I DID NOT TEMPER WITH THE METER AND THE METER WAS CHECKED BY HIM AND HIS ELECTRICIAN WITHOUT ME BEING PRESENT

Please explain also about landlords adjusting deposit each year when your contract renews and rent goes up. They up your deposit as well. They must adjust according to the interest earned.

landlords don't give back deposits, they give a long list of expenses as to why,despite you taking very good care of the premises, I've fixed my apartment for years myself cos landlord refuses

They always find things to penalize us for. They put us in a house owing municipal and we couldn’t buy electricity because of water bill. Moved out after 3 months because we had to pay R1000 or R3000 to get R300 electricity. Got back my deposit after 11 months and it was short and they didn’t pay me back the money I paid to municipality to get electricity.
