100% agree with all this. The drama is amazing with this album. But you can’t tell me this album feels like a phone in, and that’s ok. Artist are aloud to fail and hopefully it makes them sharper for the next one.

This! Pop music also “sounds” pop when using even more limited chord progressions. This is the reason why you can do mashups with so many of them. Even casino slot machines ring in the key of “C” because it’s most inviting to the ear and makes people happy.

I think it’s a horrendous excuse of an album, but the people who are like “I’m educated in this degree and have perfect pitch. It’s so boring.” Like if that’s the excuse, pop music is not for you tbh

it's just vitriolic and reactionary hate, dressed up as opinion. You can't make broad sweeping assertions like "she's lost her edge/it feels like it's written by AI/she's ripping off other artists/her fans are all just dumb" and then hide behind "it's just my opinion/I'm allowed to criticize her" when given any amount of pushback. If you can't articulate why you don't like the album beyond a blanket dismissal of the whole thing, why do you have such strong feelings about it? it feels like you saw other people enjoying something you don't like, and took it as a personal attack on your taste.

everyone has different likes and taste and if you don't really know what you're on about you shouldn't really talk on it. I don't jam with Taylor Swift's music and think it sounds kinda bland that doesn't mean it doesn't sound good to others or should be appreciated artistically
