@kelseyolivethrifts: This week, I finally found an Intaglio style necklace while thrifting!! I have always had a huge fascination with these, and was excited to find such a fun reproduction piece! Intaglio jewelry features a design carved into the back of a gemstone or other hard material, creating a design that is sunk below the surface. Unlike a cameo, which is a raised image, an intaglio's carved image is depressed, allowing it to be pressed into wax or used to impress a design. Historically, intaglios were used as seals to authenticate documents, and in jewelry, they are often found in rings, watch fobs, and pendants. Have you ever heard of an intaglio before?
