@blueplanetnow: In April 2025, the U.S. signed an executive order to fast-track deep-sea mining — not just in American waters, but even on parts of the ocean floor considered international territory. Just five days later, a company called The Metals Company submitted the world’s first-ever application for commercial deep-sea mining under U.S. law — bypassing the United Nations' regulatory system entirely. Scientists and environmental groups are warning this could trigger irreversible damage to deep-ocean ecosystems we barely understand — all for a few minerals used in phones and batteries. Is this leadership — or recklessness? #oceantock #ClimateCrisis #ecodisaster ocean pollution marine life environmental disaster climate change ocean conservation plastic in the ocean rising sea levels save the ocean Oil spill #DeepSeaMining #CorporateTakeover

Yes… The need for resources doesn’t trump the need for environmental responsibility. I’m not against mining, I’m against profiteering at any cost. Just because we can doesn’t mean we should. Let’s learn from the past. Those resources belong to the people, not to those who are capable of mining them.
