Being huge fans of the books and films we were excited to watch this but gotta say we were so disappointed. The show was just bad! From the awful American accents to Katniss narrating every thought throughout which really they didn’t need. They’d changed parts completely like Gale giving her the pin to Effie wishing Haymitch Happy Birthday but erm, we don’t actually know that this day is his birthday yet! 🤦🏽‍♀️ The “fight” scenes were bad and consisted of weird dance breaks. When we booked the tickets I was expecting the actors would be jumping around walls and up into the audience, but no. They spent pretty much all the time with their feet on the ground running laps around the small stage floor, and I mean laps, Katniss must of done at least 50 laps of the stage! Be prepared to be blinded by obscenely bright lights flashing on and off throughout or the actors shining their torches directly into your eyes and have your ears bleed by from the screeching sound effects they use. If you’re sat in district 1-2 then your seats will move so you’ll go from having a nice face on view at the corners of the arena to having a view maybe furthest away where you’ll have to turn to see anything. There was 2 screens at either end but both showed different things which was seriously annoying. But the biggest bug of all was John Malkovich as Snow…. All the scenes were prerecorded on one of the screens and it was just ridiculous. All so they could put a big name in the bill….. it wasn’t needed and just made it worse, especially when at one point he was looking in the wrong direction completely 🤦🏽‍♀️ The theatre that they’d built for this was lacking in all facilities so at half time interval the queues for toilets were huge. Someone came round and started opening some of the locked doors which were disabled toilets so people could use them but there was no lighting so it was peeling in the dark for the brave few that used them. There was only one stair case so it was a nightmare getting out at the end too. Overall, for what we paid we were seriously disappointed. 5 minutes after it started they stopped the show for technical difficulties and the part of Clove was played by one of the choreographers (I think) due to illness, and read by a woman who was sat next to us so that was weird. Clove’s mouth didn’t move at all but we had this woman next to us voicing her. 😂 Would I recommend it? Definitely not for what we paid but then not if it meant sitting at the back or up in the rafters either…. 😬 if you can get cheap front row seats and want a day out then why not but keep your expectations on the floor! #thehungergamesonstage #hungergames #disappointed #whatdidijustsee #katnisseverdeen
