People wouldnt be forced to basically live on omeprazole if the root cause of their acid reflux problems were investigated and solved i.e hernia surgery etcs but gps would rather give you omeprazole then solve the issue.

The doctor gives out omeprazole like sweets. Same as blood pressure medication, same as cholesterol medication, they want us all stuck on these tablets. If they didn’t want us to take them, they should not have prescribed them because now we are stuck on them.

Been taking it for years because I went to the doctors with chronic heartburn and they put me straight on it. Years later they come to me asking for me stop taking it so they can do a test to find out why I have to take it everyday but if I don't take it everyday now I suffer with chronic heartburn but the doctor told me I'd need to stop taking it for 2 weeks. So be in agony for 2 weeks? I can't do that. The NHS need to stop forcing medication on people and try to find the source of the issue first.

This is why I quit being a pharmacist. The UK health system is all about profits over actually helping people. Preventative cure is never truly prioritised. GPs prescribe based on guidelines made by drug companies, and don't investigate the root issues.

I have been taking omeprazole now nexium for years and years. If I don’t take it, I spike a fever and get uncontrollable vomiting/heaving. I found that out the hard way when I came to korea and could no longer get it anymore
