It’s because people realized that stopping climate change isn’t just holding hands and singing Kumbaya. It’s ending capitalism.

I agree with you but true for the matter is 57 companies create 80% of the carbon admission in the world. Blaming each other instead of blaming billionaires/politicians is counterproductive

they keep putting the onus of capitalism on the consumer whose hand is forced to interact within the system. Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll get this class consciousness that will overtake the ruling powers killing our planet until it’s literally too late.

It’s really because a lot of the climate and low carbon forwardness has started shifting away from western nations and into places like China, who are adopting renewables and electrotech like electric vehicles at record speeds.

It's not profitable + corporations work as hard as they can to deflect and disguise the issue. People are becoming increasingly trapped financially and most don't have the bandwidth to worry about things that aren't in their face... as with most things this shift can be traced to late stage capitalism

15 years ago people thought there was a chance of us reversing it. Now we don’t. To be clear, we never had a chance because our entire civilization is driven by the profit motive and climate change is a result of doing the most profitable things. But we used to think there was something we could do.

it’s hard to get people who are thinking about surviving until tomorrow to think about 10 years in the future. the big push earlier came mostly from corporations trying to focus on individual responsibility rather than systemic change. it’s important to address how environmental issues are impacting us today. like price of food going up because of decreased yield and over used soil or coastal homes being destroyed!!!
