It’s just a simple algorithm play. Your main account has been categorised as X, you will be pushed out to people who are interested in X (and brands involved in X see your ‘clean’ image). Your secondary account becomes a little more generic, which means the content can be pushed out to people interested in Y and Z, theoretically increasing your potential followers and possibly giving you a second income stream if you get to monetisation

I do not see the benefit of two accounts unless it’s monetary- get two accounts receiving income from the TikTok creator fund. I have a secondary account but that existed prior to this one and it was for another interest/purpose. It never really popped off (Jamie)

It’s kind of like diversifying investments or having different LLCs if one gets banned the other account is safe as a bounce back as it’s unlikely for both to be banned at the same time. It’s a safeguard as well as maintaining a uniform look on one over the other. The algorithm sometimes doesn’t push your content if it notices you’re not sticking to what “works” and then that messes up the views for what you post for what actually works.
