The fact that the husband is still alive, isn’t the purple heart ordered to when a service person when wounded so this is two wounds so I guess if she doesn’t know he’s been wounded twice that is a bit weird

Vets are a different breed… If you have seen combat you deal in whatever way you can some talk about it some try to forget some drink ( not a good choice) I speak from experience. To any of my brothers and sisters if you are struggling PLEASE get help leave no man behind still applies now that you are a civilian 988 call their is help you are not alone.

Not sure, but AFAIK you don't get 2 medals for the same event. 2 purple hearts means he got injured, healed, went back and got injured again...
