A small aside about him snapping at Gohan when he first turned Super Saiyan, that transformation increased his rage and aggression, so him JUST watching Krillin explode and transforming, he was borderline out of control. He even told Gohan that he wasn’t sure how long he could control himself, so it makes plenty of sense that Gohan not listening would make him yell

For me, it’s when Goku discovers who Future Trunks is that proves he’s not a bad dad at all. He’s stoked to learn that Vegeta becomes a dad too … and he keeps that secret!!!

I dont remember gohan fighting vegeta 1 on 1 in the saiyan saga o.O he got enraged and transformed, but everyone was still involved in the fight also, that scene you show in the pic when u state that gohan fought him 1 on 1,that sky looks like namek,not the fight that took place on earth.

another thing about the sensu bean that I rarely see people bring up is that it might have been to help Gohan remember Goku was completely confident that Gohan could deal with cell so he might have done it so cell didn't get desperate because how poorly letting enemies get desperate goes in previous arcs. when gero got desperate he brought out the stronger androids when frieza got desperate he blew up namek tried to kill Goku and then came to earth to get his get back. when Vegeta got desperate he tried to destroy the earth. it's possible that Goku did this to give Gohan more time before cell got that same desperation

I feel like even with his flanderized moments on Super he still showcased on several occasions that he’s a good dad, husband, and grandpa. The first thing he wanted to do with the money Mr Satan him was give it to Gohan so he could keep studying, he respected Gohan not wanting to fight (except for the TOP because it was necessary) and even apologized to Gohan for making him fight again in the Moro arc, loved being around Pan, thought of getting ChiChi a gift for if he won the TOP, and crashed out of Zamasu for killing a version of ChiChi and Goten the weren’t even his

I just want to add something, since everyone ignores this when they mention the situation of kid Buu destroying planet earth, and how Goku didn't grab his sons, and no one ever mentions Vegeta. People love him so much, and call him a good father because he hugged Trunks before his sacrifice, but although we shouldn't expect Vegeta to save Goku's children when Buu was destroying the planet, but why didn't Vegeta try to grab his own son and then grab onto Goku for teleportation, Vegeta's hands were free and he didn't do anything, and afterwards he tries to criticize Goku for grabbing Dende and Hercule instead of his own sons.

Well gohan and chichi and goten never hated him plus gohan is achieved his dream and overall good kid with a good father and good mother and when goten met goku the first time in the buu saga he didn’t lash out at him or nothing

I think Goku is a traumatized dad because I believed after he died then became more aware of his mortality. His focus became more about his personal goals than gohan development. He does train him but doesn’t recognize Gohan but himself in Gohan. Thats why he made that bad decision in the cell games.

To be fair though “I’ll leave this to you gohan” gohan was the strongest on the planet lol even stronger then goku at that time. And same for hitting gohan to stop him from fighting imperfect cell gohan is too strong and fast to just grab or spank lol
