@danegmccarthy: People are more fit in Australia. At 6 a.m. on Bondi Beach, you’ll see the fittest crowd in the world. The culture demands both career and fitness success, unlike the U.S., where money can overshadow health. #Fitness #Culture #Australia #America #Health

It’s well known that people in coastal cities tend to be fitter, and that’s hardly unique to Australia. Australians act like they’re in some elite class when, realistically, they’re pretty average. The guy sounds like he’s been rehearsing that take his entire life.

On a country level 40% of the US is obese. Australia is "only" 32% obese. Both fat nations. That said, California (which has 13 million more people than Australia) has an obesity rate of 27%. There are many US states with lower obesity rates than Australia (New York, Florida, Colorado, Massachusetts, Hawaii, Washington, etc...). He's generalizing a nation of 340 million people and comparing it with one of 27 million. There are many areas of the US every bit as fit as Australia or more so.

Why are you comparing Australia to the US? Texas has a higher population and economy than Australia. They're insignificant.
