15 years after "I will always love you" we are getting married in two weeks. we grew up enough and changed enough that we were able to make it work now. it never could have worked then. but fifteen years of never stopping loving each other, we couldn't not end up together. I'm lucky it was the right love, just the wrong time back then.

i loved them so much. we said we would keep loving each other, even after we stopped dating at the beginning of this year. they passed suddenly and unexpectedly a few months later. i am still heartbroken. this is not how it should have ended. we should have had more time to let that love transform into something else. we should have had more time.

16 years ago it ended with I will always love you but he wasn’t ready to love me the way I needed to be loved. Years later we are both happily married to other people and I’m so thankful that he chose to let me go so that I could find the love I so desperately deserved. I think fondly on the year we spent together. I’m forever thankful that I was blessed with the freedom to find the better one.
