Friend, you’re making tradition the test of truth, not Scripture. That’s the very leaven of the Pharisees Jesus warned about—exalting man-made tradition above the Word of God (Mark 7:7–9). Let’s be clear: truth isn’t established by church fathers, but by the Word of God. Isaiah 8:20 says: “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” The Sabbath was commanded by God in Exodus 20:8–11. Jesus kept it (Luke 4:16). Paul kept it (Acts 17:2). Gentiles kept it (Acts 13:42–44). And nowhere—nowhere—does the New Testament authorize a change to Sunday. The early Christians did keep the seventh-day Sabbath—even many Church Fathers acknowledged it: • Epiphanius (4th century): “…the sect of the Nazarenes… they fulfill till now such Jewish rites as the Sabbath.” • Origen said some still observed the Sabbath even in his day. • Socrates Scholasticus (5th century): “For although almost all churches throughout the world celebrate the sacred mysteries on the Sabbath of every week, yet the Christians of Alexandria and at Rome, on account of some ancient tradition, have ceased to do this.” (Ecclesiastical History, Book 5, Ch. 22) So yes—it’s there if you’re willing to look. But even if it weren’t, you don’t build doctrine on what church leaders did after the apostles died. That’s how you end up with purgatory, indulgences, and Marian worship. If being Protestant means anything, it means testing all traditions by the Bible—not the other way around. Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 14:15) Not the commandments of bishops. Not the decrees of Rome. The Commandments of God. And the Sabbath is one of them. . #jesus #biblestudy #Sabbath #seventhdayadventist #theadventtruth
