Same! My favorite favorite was the beefy potato hamburger helper (not stroganoff) but stew or classic. You can't find it anywhere in the stores, and I think they stopped making it. But wish they still made it, because I crave it some days.

I have some really nice basic plates which my granny bought in France in the 60s, and which my mum remembers using when she visited, and I remember using in my childhood, and when I got my house, I got them. use them almost every day!

My Mom would not use any shortcuts like HH or Shake n Bake because that "wasn't real cooking". But you could tell what day of the week it was by dinner. She wasn't a bad cook, but she wasn't a good one either. The only spices she used were garlic powder & onion powder. lol, I remember when Taco Bell used to be spicy & make my nose run because I wasn't used to any flavor. Also, meat wasn't done until it was hard, like well, well, WELL done. OMG, it would crunch!

We did hamburger gravy too! Definitely no spices besides salt and pepper 😂 My mom also made spam casserole which I loved.

My mom was a dietitian & in the 70s she always had a vegetable tray like a relish tray with fresh vegetables (radishes, cucumber, bell pepper etc) out before dinner was served. No dip or anything else. About half of it would be hopefully vegetables from her garden if the rabbits weren’t too bad that year. PS: Yes on the glass of milk every meal. But mom never had salt & pepper on the table. You had to get up and get it if you wanted it, same with sugar.

I was born in 81 and my mom still uses kitchenware that she had when I was a kid from the 70s. It’s the best! Also, my favorite was spaghetti. It was just Prego sauce, but there was something about it when my mom would make it that I loved.🤷♀

not a food, but i have a small green glass drinking tumbler which is probably from the 50s. my granny always let me use it for ribena (blackcurrant juice) when I was little because i liked the purple and green together. I still have it now, and use it for ribena only.
