@leedsplussocial: The council might put a stop to the 1,100 bikes that ride up Briggate in Leeds every day. A new ‘Action Plan’ for the city’s main high streets could mean cyclists, including heavy delivery bike riders, are forced to get off and walk with their bikes instead. It’s all part of a set of new proposals to make some of Leeds city centre’s busiest areas safer and more enjoyable for pedestrians. Roads like Albion Place, Albion Street and Commercial Street would be included in the new cycling rules too - and there’d be limits to the number of mobile street traders (‘pedlars’) allowed on Briggate. The hours that certain vehicles are allowed on Briggate would also be further restricted - to before 10am and after 8pm. The council says Briggate in Leeds city centre has a weekly footfall of 250,000 - and is hoping to launch a public consultation soon on ways to make it safer. The idea will be discussed by the Executive Board of senior councillors next week. #leeds #leedscitycentre #leedsnews #leedsfood
The amount of times I’ve nearly been run over by these bikes is insane

It's a cultural attitude change that's needed. Why has it become acceptable to wear face coverings & have absolutely no manners.

Good, most of the riders have no respect for the pedestrians and travel too fast.

virtually all the bikes are illegal electric motor bikes. new rules aren't needed, they need to enforce the existing ones.

Good idea, but how about pedestrianising the food outlets. Only allow collection and not collect and delivery.

I’m pretty sure there’s already a sign up saying you can’t ride down briggate? A few months ago I was on a beryl bike and was about to go down there and sure I saw a sign 🤔
