Lawmakers just cut $2 million in funding for the state’s Autism Navigator program, which connected families to vital services, therapies, and resources. That $2 million was nearly half of the Autism Alliance of Michigan’s budget… and now, layoffs and reduced support are likely to follow. sigh. This cut comes as lawmakers shift spending toward road and infrastructure projects, leaving behind programs that directly impact children and adults with disabilities. As an advocate, this is unacceptable. Every child deserves access to the supports that help them communicate, connect, and thrive. Now besties, let’s talk about how you can advocate: 1.) PLEASE call the Michigan House of Representatives: (517) 373-0135 2.) Ask to be connected to your state representative’s office. If you don’t know who your representative is, simply say: “I’d like to be connected with the representative for (then just say your city or ZIP code).” 3.) Then tell the staffer something like this (simple and direct): “I’m calling to ask Representative insert name to support restoring the $2 million cut to the Autism Navigator program in Michigan’s budget. This program connects families to critical autism services, and losing it harms children and adults across our state.” TIME TO ACT. THANK YOU.
