Without Gilmour you don’t have the sound and without Waters you don’t have the songs. Wouldn’t have worked without both of them.

I would have to go with Gilmour on this. Waters was an excellent songwriter, but the fact that his ego nearly destroyed the band has to be considered in this question.

Waters has said MANY times, gilmour’s voice carried the band. Gilmour has said MANY times. Water’s imagination and lyrics are paramount to Floyd! And then there is the guitar riffs that are carved in stone of rock archives. Come on ?? No Waters or Gilmour album is as big as Floyd!

Just check the live sets. Gilmour do it easily without Waters, but the other way around is not the same.

when either of them had too much power pink floyd wasn't the same. the final cut was 95% waters and it sucked. the gilmour era was okay but it didn't feel the same

Pink Floyd wouldn’t be what it is without Gilmour, obviously we can see with albums before he joined. It also wouldn’t be them without Roger’s writing. They both played key parts and without one of them we would not have the band that we listen to today
