The more you root yourself in scripture and wring yourself from expectations & standards that social media pushes — you find yourself embracing relationships that aren’t only Godly, but come naturally. Our generation often chooses partnership based from material semantics. Whether if it’s revelency, fashion sense, income or stature. Which our generation, with the thanks of social media; has had a good run of promoting. Not advocating these are bad characteristics; instead, I am exposing that the motive to create relationships is sprouted from these traits. Instead of longing for real, authentic relationships from these qualities — the Bible gives us strong prompting through characteristics like “the fruit of the spirit” (Galatians 5) or “Iron Sharpening” relationships (Proverbs 17) that deepens searching of relationships that are actually meaningful. When we miss the pursuit of relationships without love, kindness, forgiveness and self control; we unconsciously wrap ourselves in relationships that aren’t only unfruitful but also disingenuous. With my last note of thought. Though the Bible does give us true insight of how to better gain relationships that actually mean something. The Bible’s driving force is not for you to be an expert in human relationships. The driving goal of scripture is for you to first have A relationship WITH the Lord. We may have hearts to pursue others, but let that same heart be ever so chasing and longing for God’s face. The Gospel shares the two greatest of commandments from Jesus Himself. He says You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matt 22:37-39). Jesus reiterates what is FIRST in priority: loving God with all your heart, soul and mind. We often mix this order of priority. Instead of posturing this heart for God; we could first love OTHERS with all of our hearts, sounds and minds. This looks like reading scripture or pursing Godliness only for the advancement for self and others ABOVE admiration for the father and His word. It’s settle, but if not caught — could be dangerous and leaves us more vulnerable to relational idolatry. We keep Godly relationships by first speaking and loving the Author of all relationships. From seeking Him & His will; everything else flows from it (Matt 6:33).
