@metrouk: New Zealand's Parliament was temporarily suspended after a haka was performed for newly elected Te Pāti Māori MP Oriini Kaipara. Speaker Gerry Brownlee said he would investigate whether any parties had been involved in organising the haka, as it was against protocol and therefore 'contemptious'. Prior to her election, Kaipara was a journalist and the first person to present a prime-time news programme with a moko kauae facial tattoo. Te Pāti Māori, which means The Maori Party, has previously gotten in trouble for performing the haka in the chamber, including their co-leaders being suspended last year for performing it during the First Reading of the controversial Treaty Principles Bill. #haka #newzealand #aotearoa #politics #worldnews
