However, many beginners are fixated on touching their feet with straight legs, even if it means rounding the back, which is quite dangerous for the spine if repeated over time ⚠️ If you find that your back is rounding a lot in your forward folds, this could indicate that your hamstrings and low back are tight. Instead of having your legs straight, bend the knees and open the chest, engage your core and try to press your stomach down to your thighs at all times. Bend the knees Progressively work on pushing the pelvis back to straighten the legs a little bit at a time. You should feel the stretch in the backside, mainly the hamstrings and low back. To make forward folds even more accessible, you can also sit on a block or a rolled-up blanket to elevate the hips, making it easier to tilt from the pelvis.
