I’m assuming they track the kids performance wise that got in test optional. Something tells me their average GPA’s were lower than those that submitted SATs within their target range. Although… my daughter got into a non-Ivie top 10 school without scores because of Covid and ended up having all A’s in college-premed track. But I think overall, test optional let some students slide in that might struggle.
