Why do some women/girls have harder uterine muscle contractions during their period than others?
Mine were absolutely debilitating

If it was the dilation, then periods wouldn’t hurt after childbirth. I was told your cervix never fully closed after childbirth. (Feel free to correct if you know differently)

What is strange though is that sometimes the cramp is unbearable for like 20 min, then a massive clot pass and then I can finally relax! It’s like the all pain vanished once this is out. (I do have adenomyosis though)

Is the pain from the uterine muscles contracting on your period the same type of pain you’d feel from labor?

hearing that people think their cervix dilates to 5CM (!!!) during your period, as a person that's given birth is equally hilarious and horrific. 💀😂

Idk I had to have my cervix manually dilated for an ablation and that HURT LIKE HELL and felt exactly like the pain I experience on my period. I do pass huge clots though so my dr said my cervix probably is dilating.

It's such a shame that we don't learn how our bodies function in school, because it leads to misinformation like this, which comes from such a good place of wanting to learn how our bodies actually work 😭

How does it cause cramp pain that’s not concentrated in the lower abdomen? (Back pain, radiating to legs, sides of abdomen) it’s wild how much pain such a small muscle can cause!

One time I passed my entire uterine lining at once and it was so so painful. Like I actually thought I was having a miscarriage except I wasn’t sexually active so I knew it wasn’t it. Do you think the cervix have to dilate more for this?

I mean I felt nothing getting to 2 cm before labor. So it makes sense

I thought the contraction causing the pain was common knowledge but guess not.

Yeah… my cervix post having children is more open than before, and my period cramps have gotten worse after having kids as well, probably because my uterus is better at “contracting”
