@cspanofficial: Attorney General Pam Bondi on Friday announced the arrest of a man accused of sending a threatening letter to conservative podcaster Benny Johnson.   "This was a coward hiding behind a keyboard who thought he could get away with this," she said at a press conference in Tampa, Florida, adding that the individual has been charged with mailing a threatening communication. "You are not going to get away with threatening people in this way."   Mr. Johnson and his family were threatened just days after the assassination of prominent conservative activist Charlie Kirk.   According to Ms. Bondi, the threats against Mr. Johnson were made "because of his views," which she said were "very similar" to Mr. Kirk's.   Mr. Johnson claimed he was targeted because he is "a white cis Christian Trump supporter" and accused the Democratic Party of fueling the rise in political violence.   "Violence has been mainstreamed by the Democrat Party. It's not extremist — it is mainstream — and we need a moment of reckoning here," he said.   The attorney general also dismissed a question about whether recent rhetoric from President Trump — specifically his "I hate my opponent" comment at Mr. Kirk's memorial service — contributed to the hostile climate.   "The president said nothing about violence, absolutely nothing," she replied.   #pambondi #bennyjohnson #cspan
