in cell block 4 they don't allow you to take pics. there are still burn marks in the cement where ppl were burned. there are marks in the cement where a shovel was used to take off heads. my dad was in the national guard and was called to these riots where they guarded the outside to make sure no inmates escaped the prison grounds he said it was awful to hear the screams of grown men coming from the prison.

My grandpas best friend was a guard when it broke out, luckily he was one of the nice ones and inmates gave him a jumpsuit to blend in as the other inmates were k!ll!ng the guards, once it was all over they had to lay in SNOW for HOURS and if anyone got up or moved was killed. He’s truly one of the sweetest men I’ve ever met

My grandpa was there the night before the riots broke out. He said the prisoners were singing in code about what they were going to do. Before he could be fully processed the riots broke out. He never spoke on it until now that he his 76. He was able to free a guard that was tied up in the cafeteria. The guard guided him on where to run. He’s a survivor from the riots and Vietnam🙏🏽

My dad and my uncle were both in this prison when the riots took place. As tough of a guy my dad was, he never wanted to discuss what took place here. He just said that he saw the most unimaginable and after seeing his face when he said that, made me never want to have him relive that nightmare again so we have never brought it up in our home.

The death count is still unknown. There were multiple John Does in the prison at the time and that prison was notorious for poor records. The 33 names are those confirmed.

My Dad was one of the few who survive, things he saw during the riot he never spoke about. Sadly his cell mate/best friend was killed. The gruesome situations he saw of death traumatized him.

that place is crazy when I was there I saw the outline of a body on the floor where they said it on flames and also the chips on the cement floor where they took off someone's h**d with the shovel it's crazy over there Read the devil's butcher shop it's all about the riot

If you want to learn more about this I recommend reading the devils butcher shop by Roger morris. The conditions the prisoners were in prior to the riot were awful. The prison was overcrowded and understaffed and the prisoners were ruthless. Some were in there for minor offenses and others for serious felonies. Many were held captive and tortured. The list goes on.
