Maybe trauma built up from telling people to stop but they don’t

Majora's Heart :
it's the feeling of helplessness because the person tickling you isn't taking your consent seriously

Mark Hawkins :
biologically, tickling is a safe way to teach babies to guard there vulnerable spots.

My kids love to play tickle but we make it a game that when anyone says “stop!” We all jump back and stop! And them usually they giggle and ask to tickle again!

My exH (their bio dad) would hold our kids down and tickle them until they cried. Did it to me sometimes, too. It's cruel and nothing pisses me off more and my youngest child is almost 32. I took them and left that man 31 1/2 years ago. Not ever been sorry.

i mean its not an age but its the easiest way for someone to violate your consent and insist you were having fun

I never liked it. I hated it and it gave me panic attacks. Even as a toddler

I’m hyper aware of doing it gently and only for a moment with my kids. My toddler thinks it’s hilarious. When I was a kid, by 4 years old I hated it because people wouldn’t stop

maybe its a feeling of lost control??
an ex felt it was giving up control to be susceptible to being ticklish. he felt no one should have that power over another. he taught me how to "turn it off". now its only in my most relaxed moods with someone I deeply trust do i allow myself to be ticklish. I can turn it off like flipping a switch any other time.

You always hated it but now it’s a conscious hate rather than subconscious. The reason kids laugh is because their brain thinks they are being attacked and laughter is supposed to produce hormones in the attacker to calm them down

i think i read somewhere that we laugh when tickled not because it’s funny or enjoyable but so that caregivers keep tickling to work on developing those reflexes. bc ticklish areas are generally super vulnerable, so having a super strong reflex of getting anything tickling you AWAY is important

Tickling is torture. I was the youngest of 7 and I learned very young to NOT be ticklish. My older sister would do tickle fights. Nope, not for me.

I've always hated it. When I was little I'd purposely kick and flail around as hard as I could and yell to get my mom to stop. She wouldnt until I genuinely hurt her and then she'd get mad at me for it.
