I don’t understand how rooms get THIS bad?? We make our kids clean their own messes up. It’s not hard if you stay on top of things. We do a “power hour” clean where everyone in the house cleans up and by the time it’s done everytbing is clean! We’re a team in this household

Those who say it’s learned behavior clearly don’t know kids. Yes sometimes it can be but a lot of kids just don’t like cleaning .i have had adhd my whole life and cleaning my room was the worst thing to me

I had messy rooms like this. And it got better over time. My mom wanted the house cleaned and left it up to us for our rooms. It got messy and it got clean. Then messy. And then cleaned. Now as an adult a mom myself, my kids(toddlers) are messy!!! But for now it’s my responsibility. Everything in my house is clean from top to bottom. But when they become teenagers. It will not be a problem and it will be practiced over time. I used think “how could this happen”…. But it literally happens to anyone. My mom is so loving and caring. That if she was crazy and OcD i probably wouldn’t have a relationship with her.

Get rid of like 80% of her stuff! It’ll help make it more manageable for her to clean. I found it super overwhelming as a kid (and now as an adult) “to keep up on things” and I couldnt figure out why until recently! I always keep a clean home, but its like… a tremendous effort every single day.. Started massively decluttering and its so much easier to keep up on and my own kiddos are finally able to keep up on their own rooms too!

It’s overwhelming. Go in and help her together, give her a task, one thing at a time and do another one. Teaches her how to clean and appreciate it cleaned bc she put in the work too.

You don’t ask kids if they can clean their room — you tell them! They’re kids… when it comes to cleaning, they don’t get to choose whether they want to or not. Nor when it should be done. But yes… like mother, like daughter.
