SAVE so you can refer back to this when you’re preparing for birth. The best pushing position is which ever position you feel most comfortable in, I recommend practising breathing in different positions before you go into labor so it feels familiar for you and your body. Internal rotation makes more space at the pelvic outlet (bottom of the pelvis) where baby will be born compared to external rotation which opens the pelvic inlet (top of the pelvis) where baby engages. During pregnancy we commonly favour external rotation due to our growing belly and changes in posture therefore adding internal rotation movement into your prenatal movement routine can help prepare you better for birth. Getting comfortable in pushing positions during pregnancy can help you relax and feel comfortable during labor because your body has relaxed there before. Positions such as side lying, all fours, kneeling, laying on a towel so that your sacrum has room to move will create more space in your pelvic outlet for you baby to pass through more easily. Typically we are asked to lay on our back during the pushing phase because it’s easier for the person delivering your baby. I recommend speaking to your provider or labor partner before going into labor about pushing positions if being on your back isn’t your preference. Which position do you imagine giving birth in? - if you need more guidance in how to prepare for birth, you can join my prenatal movement program. #fitpregnancy #pregnancy #36weekspregnant #pregnant #37weekspregnant #healthypregnancy #38weekspregnant #39weekspregnant #postpartum #pregnancyjourney #fitpregnancyjourney #pregnancyfitness #prenatalfitness #pregnancyworkout #pregnantbelly #fitmama #babybump #pregnancytips #33weekspregnant #34weekspregnant #pregnantlife #postpartumjourney #postpartumfitness #babybelly #thirdtrimester #30weekspregnant #31weekspregnant #32weekspregnant #40weekspregnant
