As a Filipino, I can’t help but ask — why is everyone turning a blind eye? In Gaza, innocent children are dying every day. In Nigeria, countless Christians are being killed, their villages burned, their cries unheard. Yet the world remains silent, too distracted or too afraid to speak up. When did we start believing that some lives matter less? When did compassion become selective? Every child, every family, every person deserves to live in peace and dignity. Turning away from suffering won’t make it disappear — it only deepens the pain. It’s time to open our eyes, speak for those who cannot, and remember that our humanity means caring for one another, no matter where we come from.
