A little more about me! My name is Megz, but the government calls me Meghan. I am 39 years old and I live in Thunder Bay, ON. I currently live in St Joseph's Hospital. On January 15th, I was admitted to the hospital with a very bad blood infection. I got a cut on my right foot that got badly infected over night. It resulted in an amputation all the way up to my right hip. It almost killed me. I was on life support until February 14th where I finally woke up in the ICU after the doctors told my parents there was nothing more they could do for me. I am very blessed to be here. For months I was very weak. I am still working on getting my strength back but as you can see, I am doing very very well. I lost my left leg below the knee about 5 years ago due to a bone infection. I had no idea anything was wrong until it was too late. I am a type 1 diabetic and a simple cut can have drastic consequences. I am currently learning how to live my new life and I am loving it so much. Im so grateful to be here to watch my 12 year old daughter grow up and become the amazing little person she is. Ive met so many amazing people along my journey. Everyone has been so great in helping me with my recovery. Right now I am working hard in physiotherapy with the best team in the world. I am so lucky to have them on my side. I can't wait to get out of here, though, and get back to real life (whatever that may look like now). Ro pass time ive been crocheting and painting and doing diamond art. Podcasts and true crime keep me sane. Ive also become a huge TikTok fan the past few weeks and I absolutely LOVE going live and meeting people from all over the world. My mom is also here in the hospital with me. She is on the floor above me. She suffered a stroke on father's day of this year and is working on recovering as well. She often comes to visit while im doing my lives and she loves it when she gets some love from around the world! She is also doing great and making an excellent recovery.
