@creativitea_plus_mha: 💙 OCD Awareness Week 💙 Who knew three little letters could equal nothing short of torture. For me, it started around age 5 or 6 — when “she’s just a little weird and different” slowly turned into being trapped in a never-ending cycle of torment and despair. At my worst, before I was properly diagnosed (and for far too long after receiving inappropriate treatment), I lost years of my life ruminating over every possibility, every “what if,” followed by compulsions I had to do to ensure safety and wellbeing — not only for myself, but for my loved ones… even strangers. Through the International OCD Foundation, I finally found access to the right help — and even more importantly, connection to an incredible OCD community. Now that I’ve made it to the other side, I advocate to shine light on this serious and often misunderstood mental health disorder. My greatest wish is that if you’re in the Kansas City area and you happen to drive by my home or see this post — please know: you are never alone. I’m here to help with resources, education, and community support.
