You are doing a great job in bridging the gap. There are people on both sides who do this well but it only takes one to make us fall back down

And if there are just the two crew members….someone will have to drive. This leaves ONE person in the back.

Former paramedic. Had many RN’s complain about my level of care because I used our capnometry/capnography instead of pulse oximetry. Tried to tell them ETCO2 it’s far more accurate and the capnography function allows me to see graphically how the patient is breathing. But because my service was the only one at the time to use that diagnostic tool they didn’t think it was at the level of care they wanted.

I rolled into the cardiac ER with a pt in full arrest who coded on the interstate… doc “why it’s xyz done?” Sir I ran this code by myself because I was closer to you than help was to me.

Preach! Thankyou for backing up us Paramedics you don’t know how hard it is until you’ve done! I wish all ER nurses had to ride with EMS to see how we operate in the field

I always get asked..”what is the blood sugar?” While glucose issues are part of the H’s and T’s….acls removed dextrose years ago….and unless I have a pulse..nobody is giving dextrose..but I still get pissy responses from the er if I say I don’t have a glucose level

A lot of ER nurses I’ve personally met who have not spent any time in Ems have been overly critical of Ems. And most don’t care to listen and educate themselves on what Ems does. SMH

I got a nurse that gave me the side eye a few times, talked to the doc on call and 2 weeks later, all nurses had to do a ride along (full shift) and those attitudes changed QUICK!

My volunteer dept is a BLS unit. I run on a BLS truck where I work. When we call in report we let them know we are a BLS unit and there is no IV access for any emergency run.
