Wasn’t he still a major lobbyist for the 13th amendment though? And arguably reconstruction would have went much more effective had he not been murdered ? We saw black participation in politics including 2 congressman until the union army pulled out of the south. Or am I missing something or ill informed ? He definitely could of done more though

while were calling out praised white men of history john adams was an authoritarian who didnt believe in democracy or free speech he wanted a society ruled by the elite see the whole reason he supported the revolution in the first place was that it would suppress the intensity of the anti elite sentiment in the states while also being a power grab for him and other elites of the country
