Sharing trauma, family dynamics shapes a person. Withholding that I feel is a way on not being completely vulnerable. I definitely get the boyfriend part, she can't be over sharing but eventually we all need to show the person we love who we are and where we come from. Just my view mommy

Once in a committed relationship I think it’s better to discuss family pasts. If a man talks about his family past I think it’ll be better to understand why he can have issues with being vulnerable, if his grandmother was a witch doctor and babies in their families tend to die, if his father was absent and that’s why he can be how he is. I think if as a woman you’re able to disclose trauma, he’s able to understand why you may be slightly guarded, why you may be emotional or why you tend to have certain behaviours. You need to know where you’re coming from to go where you’re going.. so many divorced couples talk about how they had no idea who they were marrying because they didn’t talk about what mattered.
