@reuters: Climate activists threw biodegradable paint on Jose Garnelo's painting 'First Tribute to Christopher Columbus' at Madrid's Naval Museum. The activists from Futuro Vegetal (Vegetable Future) carried a banner with the slogan “October 12, nothing to celebrate. Eco-social justice." Spain celebrates National Day on October 12 with a military parade, a fly past, paratroopers and a marching parade. Good. Columbus is not someone to look up to. Fucking hell, even Spain arrested him for the atrocities he committed on natives. And still that pos gets a remembrance day for "discovering" America. He wasn't even the first European, he was just the first of the "proper race"

In Spain he and his family are buried inside the Seville cathedral and they pretend he rescued the indigenous people. Went to many museums where they had paintings up that showed him helping the natives. My professors would get so angry when I would say those were wrong and that he was a genocidal maniac
