You can’t get mad or over react if you don’t care. For me it was that simple. once I turned off my ability to care and go numb when dealing with this person. Things improved and I didn’t walk away enraged every time I engaged with them.

For me, consistent practice may take quite some time to truly process our feelings, but the second approach works every time. Ultimately, we need to accept things as they are (and if others choose not to change, that’s genuinely not your problem). Only then can we find alternative ways to deal with what comes next. 👏👏👏

I engage in counting, though not in the typical descending order from ten to one, but rather, for instance, from 2789 to 2000. Furthermore, I do this in a second language. I have noticef that when my mind is deeply focused on this counting task, my emotional responses tend to become more calmer and controlled.

I go out for a huge family brunch and get stuck across from my wife's bigoted uncle. My sister and her wife are beside me and he asks me who they are and I explain my sister and her wife. He rudely says incredulously "her what?" How do I not get triggered and refrain from putting him on blast in front of his whole family?
