Today on the floor of Parliament, I focused my debate on the gaps in the 2026 Budget’s so-called human-rights allocations—because human rights are not slogans; they are obligations. I raised key concerns including: 🔹 Women’s Development Bank: GH¢51 million was allocated last year but we still haven’t seen the bank. Yet government has added another GH¢400 million. Ghanaians deserve clarity. 🔹 Menstrual Hygiene: Funding remains stagnant at GH¢292 million, the same as 2025, despite growing needs. We must expand this to cover SHS girls and end period poverty. 🔹 Domestic Violence Fund: Government has increased the allocation to GH¢1 million, but when compared to over 14,000 cases reported in 2024, this amounts to about GH¢71 per victim—and even less when unreported cases are considered. This is woefully inadequate and unacceptable. I called for a ring-fenced GH¢50 million fund to support shelters, trauma services, legal aid and nationwide protection for victims. 🔹 Youth Employment: I demanded accountability for job promises under the Nkoko Nketeke programme, coders initiative, 24-hour economy and the Big Push. Our youth cannot survive on paper promises. We need real jobs, real implementation and real timelines. I concluded by reminding the House that history will judge us not by our speeches, but by our silence when women and the youth needed us most. I will not be silent—Ayensuano will not be silent—until we see a budget that truly protects and empowers our people. #ayensuanospeaks #abadaehemaa #ayensuanodeservesbetter #ParliamentUpdate
