Harbor freight is great for diy/backyard mechanics not professionals. They just break too much

My icon tools have failed less often than my snap on tools. Its embarrassing for mainstream tool companies honestly.

They are catering to professionals that need the tools right away and can’t wait on shipping to get a job done.

I love Harbor Freight. Now here’s the conundrum, in the midst of all this political upset such as “Our jobs being taken away”, etc., What American company is doing this exact same thing for us?

I would argue that they are a step up. Sears never offered hand tools that were competitive with the tool trucks. HF with the icon line absolutely does

Harbor Freight has dirt cheap bad tools for when you want to do a job as cheap as possible and excellent value and quality tools with their house brands for when you want something that’ll last but doesn’t cost 400 bucks. Love the Bauer lineup for DIY projects. And yes I have expensive tools and HF’s top tier brands are often just as good.

The quality of Harbor freight is nowhere near 90s Sears standards

I tell people Aldi has the same niche as harbor freight. It might not have everything it might not have name brands but the price to performance/quality is 100000% worth it.

actually, Amazon is closer to Sears than anyone. back a 100 years ago, you could order anything from their catalog and they delivered it to you. you could order a whole house kit and build yourself a house.
