@asiatechlens: This underwater data center in China saves 122 million kilowatt-hours annually simply by being located under the ocean Located off the coast of Hainan, this place uses the ocean’s natural cooling to keep its systems running efficiently. But how does it actually work? Unlike traditional data centers that generate immense heat, requiring costly air conditioning and refrigeration systems, this innovative center uses liquid cooling technology. By leveraging the cold depths of the ocean, it reduces the need for expensive cooling solutions, offering a more energy-efficient and cost-effective approach to data storage and processing. The center received a major upgrade, boosting its computing power to match 30,000 high-end gaming computers. This enables it to process 7,000 AI conversations every second. Once all 100 modules are finished, it’s expected to save 122 million kilowatt-hours annually, compared to traditional data centers. This shows China's huge investments into the AI scene, positioning themselves as one of the biggest players in the technology race Follow @asiatechlens to not miss out on Asian Business and Technology Stories

Cool but Microsoft did it first in 2019 and they found some issues with it and they decided to scrap it and there must be a good reason for it. China is still late in this race

Possibly the stupidest use of ocean cooling imaginable. Only an idiot would design this. You can pump seawater from the sea and use a heat exchanger allowing the computers to be on land and serviceable!
