@garychambersjr: The data doesn’t lie. The same neighborhoods that voted for Donald Trump and John Kennedy are the same ones that overwhelmingly supported Helena Moreno — the only areas where she reached 80%. That’s not coincidence, that’s alignment. Now, not every voter in those areas is racist. But the data shows that Trump and Kennedy voters — the same ones who’ve consistently opposed Black leadership — were with her. So if you’re part of the 30% of Black voters who supported Helena Moreno, you have to ask what it means to be aligned with that coalition. And if you call yourself working class or progressive, ask yourself what it means to be aligned with voters who oppose funding Black contractors, support military intervention in our cities, and back ICE raids. That’s what the data says. Trump got 24,000 votes in Orleans Parish in 2024, Moreno got 57,000 votes. How many of that increased white voter turnout was those voters seeing a place for themselves? You don’t have to like how I say it — the facts are public and easy to find. A lot of narratives get pushed on Black people, and many of us aren’t used to hearing data articulated through a Black lens. I’ve seen this playbook across Louisiana — the steady removal of Black leadership using the same tactics. The only way that changes is through honest conversations rooted in data, not feelings. In God we trust. Everybody else, bring data.
