#برج_الساعة #مكه #٢٠٢٥ #todaywether💫⛈️🌩️ #haram_view_from_clock_tower @مکّہ المکرمہ Makkah's Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) expansion began with the Prophet Muhammad, with significant developments occurring under the caliphates and later under Saudi rulers. Early expansions by Caliphs Uthman and Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr addressed increasing numbers of worshippers, while Umayyad and Abbasid caliphs added architectural features and further enlarged the mosque. The modern era has seen massive expansions under Saudi kings, beginning with King Abdulaziz in the mid-20th century and continuing through to current projects under the Saudi government, to accommodate millions of worshippers. Early and Islamic expansion Prophet Muhammad: After the conquest of Makkah in 630 CE, the Prophet Muhammad made a slight expansion to accommodate the growing number of Muslims. Caliph Uthman ibn Affan (647 CE): The first major expansion occurred during his reign, where he added new structures, marble columns, and porticoes to provide shade. Caliph Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr (684 CE): Expanded the mosque again and rebuilt the Kaaba after it was damaged. Umayyad Caliphate: Further expansions took place under Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan and his son al-Waleed ibn Abdul-Malik, who added more space and marble decorations. Abbasid Caliphate: Abu Ja'far al-Mansur and Muhammad al-Mahdi ordered significant enlargements and the construction of a new rectangular shape for the mosque. Modern (Saudi) expansion King Abdulaziz: Initiated the first major Saudi expansion in 1949, which began in 1951 and was completed over nine years. King Faisal: Continued expansion during his reign, including building the mosque's library and expanding the Mataf area. King Fahd: Ordered an expansion that began in 1984 and was completed in 1994, significantly increasing the mosque's capacity. King Abdullah: Announced a large-scale expansion project in 2008, involving the expropriation of land to the north and northwest of the mosque. King Abdullah Expansion: This phase involved adding numerous new gates, prayer halls for people with disabilities, heated floors, air conditioning, and other modern systems. Current projects: Ongoing expansion projects, like the Mataf expansion, continue to increase capacity to accommodate the massive influx of worshippers. @مکّہ المکرمہ
