Okay yes this is a little bit of a rage bait post, but there is some truth behind it let me explain! First of all, what is Aquaphor? Aquaphor is an ointment designed to hydrate and protect your skin, its main ingredient being petroleum. It is often used to hydrate cracked skin, heal wounds, and treat eczema. “All of this sounds great, why shouldn’t we use Aquaphor to heal our tattoos??” Excellent question! Being a petroleum based product, Aquaphor is a very thick ointment that upon applying, will suffocate your healing tattoo and slows the healing process. Suffocating the tattoo can also lead to trapping bacteria, leading to infections and scarring. Maybe folks make the mistake of putting far too much on and may experience their tattoo fading much faster than it should. Truth is, you CAN heal a tattoo just fine with aquaphor, but there are far better and safer options you can use. We currently recommend just a simple plain unscented lotion. Free of artificial colors preferably. You probably already have some unscented lotion in your bathroom now! (And it’s far cheaper than Aquaphor) We’re not here to judge! I’ve personally healed most of my tattoos with Aquaphor, but I’ve also over moisturized and have had ink be pulled out, so I know from experience it is very possible to go wrong with the petroleum jelly. If you have any questions or yell at us in the comments how you eat Aquaphor for breakfast, please feel free! 😂🫶💚☀️ 📍Emerald Sun Studios, Howell Michigan #michigantattooartist #emeraldsunstudios #michigantattooers #howellmichigan #michigan
