This is one of the MANY reasons I never became an asana instructor post yoga teacher training. Many components of these trainings, and of westernized interpretations of yoga, are discriminatory at best. Even the history of Sanskrit is discriminatory and problematic. It’s a shame, because many of the components of yogic enlightenment are fantastic and should be available to everyone, for free. Unfortunately, it has gross history steeped in fascist development.
