I never took it as Gohan never liked fighting He just never liked the idea of a death battle. Training to Gohan is like picking up your favorite video game he wants to pick it up and put it down when he's done. Sadly the majority of his life is death battles so it's not too surprising he doesn't have an overall positive idea of fighting.

this little arc is part of the reason I hate that people say Goku was a bad father. He's a great father who actually respects his son and always takes his feelings into account. The only reason he wasn't in Gohan's life as much was because he died twice and was always fighting planetary threats when he was alive

The funniest part about Gohan’s dream is that he’s never seen Cell in person at that point in time especially in his perfect form since he transformed to that while they were still in the time chamber😭

Aversion :

i feel like if Gohan would’ve discovered the transformation in the chamber, he would’ve been able to fight cell first, stop the cell jrs & keep his emotions under control long enough to win without the cost of Goku and Trunks

This actually just makes so much sense, GOHAN CAN ONLY BE STRONG WHEN HIS DAD IS AROUND. To prove this theory just think about future gohan, no reason that a aged up gohan wouldn’t be able to take out two weaker versions of the androids but our gohan beat cell it’s cause his dad wasn’t around

nah cell has vegeta and frieza genes in him. what happened both times goku had them both on the ropes? they tried to blow up the planet. none of them at the moment could beat Cell and Gohan needed to reach his potential. So the fight was extended so he could and Goku immediately after seeing him reach it starts telling his son go for the kill. what did cell do when Gohan didn't? he tried to blow up the planet lol. peeps need to stop with the sensu bean moment.
