Kiku is a woman, Yamato is a woman too. Kiku and Yamato have very distinct differences and Oda makes that clear in the vivre cards. Kiku is trans, Yamato isn’t and she only does it because she wants to actually be oden. One says “Female at heart” and one says “Female”. One is directly made to be inclusive of trans and the other is placed on the all women art splash drawn by Oda. There’s a difference between Kiku and Ivankov vs Yamato

Yamato is really like half and half for me because I literally don’t know but Okkiku is a woman.😭 Yamato simply wants to be down not a man specifically but yet he also has male pronouns so… idk.

I tend toward they pronouns when talking about Yamato because I don't think Yamato has really defined themself outside of the Oden character. And I hope we get more *Yamato*, not Oden, in the future. Reads more fluid to me, in any case.

Even then a lot of One Piece fans refuse to even educate themselves on the history and views on gender and queerness in Japan. It’s vastly very much different on how it is viewed then in the West.
