my job closes at 1 but we flip the sign and stop taking new customers and orders at 12:45 so we can start to close while the last few tables slowly trickle out. it’s a blessing. i can’t imagine more people coming in as im closing id lose my mind 😵💫

I remember walking into a restaurant right as they were closing in NYC, when I realized it, I immediately left and they told me “it’s okay, it’s okay” and waiving us over. I’m like nah dude, I don’t do that 😂

Idk if this has ever happened to you, but whenever it was 30 mins before closing I would clean all tables and stack the chairs on top ( I worked at a coffee shop!) and ppl would literally try and take them down 😭 I would get into so many fights bc of it

PSA in restaurants the last acceptable time to begin your meal is 1 hr/45 mins before close. Anything later than that tells me you don’t gaf about the workers getting home at a reasonable time. That last bit of time we’re “open” is for existing diners to FINISH their meals, not start new ones. I won’t be taking feedback lmfao.

I’m happy to stay past close as long as the customers tip accordingly, but when I stay 30 minutes past close to split $3 with 4 people it unleashes a beast in me.

I will wholeheartedly admit I order from places within that last hour/half hour time frame if possible. But only cause I also frequently close and I don’t really have any other options to eat and eating food from my work after awhile gets, you just get tired from it yk. I do understand closing but I also really need to eat….
